Loving Hands Institute has entered into a voluntary agreement with the Director of the Department of Consumer Affairs to comply with all State statutes, rules and regulations pertaining to a non-WASC regionally accredited institution.

Compliance gives us Approval to Operate pursuant to Section 94905 of the Education Code, as a California State Licensed School, offering State Approved Programs.

STATE LICENSING UPDATE:

http://www.senate.ca.gov

There is a new bill being proposed by the AMTA - SB 731.

To read SB 731, go to www.leginfo.ca.gov and search bill for information. You can subscribe for updates as it moves through the legislative process. This is a voluntary bill and implies that
those who certify under it will be exempt from the need for local permits to practice massage, and can work in any city or county in California with the one certification.

There are currently no laws regarding the STATE licensing of the Massage Therapy profession in the State of California, however, many cities and counties in this State, require a Certificate of Completion from a Calif. State Licensed or Registered School in order for a person to receive a Business License to practice.

The minimum hours of education for Massage Practitioner status in this State is 100 Hours , although many cities and counties require more hours to qualify and some have no requirements at all. The minimum established hours for Massage Therapist status is 500 hours of education, as set forth by all the Massage Therapy trade associations.

SENATE BILL 412 was defeated in the state assembly by the California Chiropractic
Association. Most Chiropractors in this State DO NOT WANT TO SEE THE MASSAGE THERAPY PROFESSION get ANY STATE RECOGNITION WHATSOEVER and neither do most Physical Therapists.
